Projects¶
QuickBooks Complete supports project sync with specific setup and behavior considerations.
QuickBooks editions¶
Projects are available in these QuickBooks editions:
- QuickBooks Online Plus
- QuickBooks Online Advanced
- QuickBooks Online Accountant
Verify projects are enabled¶
Projects must be enabled in your QuickBooks Online company before project sync can work.
If projects are not enabled, the app shows:
Enable projects for your QuickBooks company.
In QuickBooks, go to Settings -> Accounts and settings -> Advanced -> Projects and
turn it on.
We have seen cases where projects begin working after the first project is created in QuickBooks. If you have not created any project in QuickBooks yet, create one first, then return to the app and try linking Projects.
Reconnect QuickBooks after enabling projects¶
Older QuickBooks connections may lack the authorization ("OAuth scopes") needed to
access project data.
If this happens, the app shows:
Re-connect your QuickBooks company on the Connections screen.
To fix this, open the Connections screen and click Connect to QuickBooks. Then connect to your QuickBooks company and complete the authorization steps. (It is not necessary to disconnect first.)
Old data cleanup¶
Before the app separated out project sync, QuickBooks projects synced into customer boards. This happened because, inside QuickBooks, a project is implemented as a specialized type of customer.
The app does not automatically delete older project rows that may already exist on customer boards. This is intentional, to avoid accidental loss of additional monday data users may have added to those rows.
If you still see projects on a customer board, clean them up directly in monday:
- Open the customer board.
- Filter the board to show only rows that are actually projects.
- Select all filtered project rows.
- Delete the selected rows in monday.
You can also safely delete the “Project” column from the customer board, as well as the views labeled “Customers only” and “Projects only”.
